The CT Pride Board has been meeting on a weekly basis to start the process of getting structures in place in readiness for the Pride Festival next year. After a competition on Facebook, the theme for next year has been agreed as LOVE OUR DIVERSITY.
We are very pleased to confirm that Gareth Dallas has agreed to be Festival Director for Cape Town Pride 2011. We have identified several major events that Pride will run – all other previous Pride participants will be informed of the cut-off date for fringe events and no more events will be added after that date.
Pride needs YOU!! We urge all those who would like to be involved with the Pride 2011 event to get in touch with us now. We need your energy, skills, commitment, talent and creativity.
We are agreed that it’s pointless for all volunteers to attend every single meeting and what we require now is an indication from you as to which aspect of Pride you would like to get involved in. Our intention is that Planning sub-committees be formed made up of volunteers, new and existing, who wish to be involved in the activities and events of Pride. We will have one large volunteer meeting to discuss the way forward and after that the sub-committees can arrange their own processes to get the ball(s) rolling.
The most important aspect of Pride is the Parade and Fair - we need to agree a route and venue for next year. This event will require 2 sub-committees – one to arrange the march and one to arrange the after party. People with event management skills are urged to join these sub-committees. We need the following assistance in making Pride happen – for without us all, it won’t:
| Fundraising: |
We urgently need assistance in securing sponsorship for Pride – both cash and sponsorship in kind. Do you have fundraising skills? Do you have a passion for negotiating deals? Do you know of any companies that would want to support Pride? |
| Marketing / Publicity: |
We need publicists, people with PR skills – We need assistance in marketing Pride to the wider community. The marketing campaign has commenced in that Festival artwork is being prepared. |
| Red Party: |
We need to start negotiations with the bars to secure their participation. We need to secure sponsorship for this event (beverages, decorations etc) |
| Mzolis: |
We need to secure participation in this event - set a date with Mzoli – book tables, secure wine sponsorship, agree taxi routes, set up a RSVP list etc. |
| Pageant: |
We need to book venue, put call outs to all the gorgeous girls and boys out there who want to strut their stuff – ensure application forms are drafted and sent out – secure sponsored prizes for the talent – DJs, equipment sponsorship (Sound systems) etc. |
| Divas: | Work with the On Broadway crew to ensure a great event. |
