1. ELIGIBILITY & ACCEPTANCE
1.1. Mr & Miss Cape Town Pride must be between the age of 18 to 35 years as of the start date of
the Pageant event. Contestants must be South African or reside in South Africa. A certified
copied of the ID or passport must be submitted with the application.
2. RETURNING DELEGATES
2.1. Former winners of the Cape Town Pride may not enter the pageant for the next two years after
reign. The first runner up for both Mr and Miss Cape Town Pride may not enter the next year after
their title.
3. LANGUAGE
3.1. The organisers of the Cape Town Pride Pageant invite you to speak in your language of choice
however, you need to inform the organisers at least 1 week before the event in order to make
the necessary arrangements with a translator.
4. CODE OF CONDUCT
4.1. Contestant shall be a person whose background is not likely to bring in to disrepute the Cape
Town Pride Pageant, Title, Cape Town Pride, organisers of the pageant or any person associated
with Cape Town Pride. Contestant affirms that he/she is and will continue to be a person of good
moral character; that he/she has not committed and will not commit any act inconsistent with
the highest standards of public morals and conventions or that will reflect unfavourably on the
pageant, its representatives, sponsors and/or Cape Town Pride.
4.2. Contestant will conduct himself in a courteous, professional manner at all times during the Cape Town Pride Pageant and while representing Cape Town Pride at large.
4.3. Contestant will not slander or label other contestants, judges, Cape Town Pride Pageant, Cape Town Pride Board and it’s Committee Members, organisers, or anyone else involved with or connected to Cape Town Pride. Defamatory verbal and/or written remarks against the abovementioned, will result in immediate disqualification, forfeiture of all prizes and awards won, and possibly legal charges.
4.4. Any Contestant found publicly posting slanderous remarks on public forums will be immediately disqualified.
4.5. Good sportsmanship is expected at all times. Disruptive behaviour before, during, or after the pageant may result in disqualification, removal from the premises, and possibly legal charges.
4.6. Cape Town Pride Pageant Entrants agrees: To attend all or some of the Cape Town Pride events as required by the organisers of Cape Town Pride. Abide by all the required services, rules and regulations governing this pageant.
4.7. If selected as a Cape Town Pride Pageant winner, the contestant agrees to make several appearances throughout the year’s reign as approved by the organisers and Cape Town Pride. Appearances may include but are not limited to parades; radio, television and newspaper interviews; and public appearances at events.
4.8. Winners are expected to give their time and energy to this title during their year’s reign and to act as an Ambassador for Cape Town Pride and its sponsors as may be required.
4.9. Winners are required to be involved with addressing some LGBTI issues and being a prominent figure in the LGBTI community during the time of reign.
4.10. If selected as a winner of the Cape Town Pride Pageant, you will be available as requested to be the face, promote and/or represent Cape Town Pride and its sponsors with or without remuneration.
4.11. All photos and film material during rehearsals and the Pageant will remain property of Cape Town Pride for a period of 5 years and will be used as required for promoting Cape Town Pride and/or its sponsors.
4.12. To treat to the organisers of the Cape Town Pride Pageant with respect to all matters relating to his/her application, rules, regulations, policies, preparation, rehearsal, performance and all other matters that may arise.
4.13. That Cape Town Pride as an organisation, it’s Board of Directors, the organisers, Judges, employees of Pride, volunteers of Pride and all other parties connected to Cape Town Pride are not responsible for accidents, injury or theft incurred during rehearsals, the Pageant, and/or Pride events or for travel to and from the above-mentioned.
4.14. That Cape Town Pride is not responsible for negligence or fraud on the part of pageant sponsors, judges, or contract vendors (e.g., photographer, videographer, etc.) who may be providing products or services to delegates and winners at the Cape Town Pride Pageant.
4.15. That Cape Town Pride is not responsible for loss, theft, or damage caused to any and all prizes, gifts, and awards bestowed upon winners after these items become the property of the winners. Winners agree to incur replacement and/or repair costs to lost, stolen, or damaged items including but not limited to: crown/tiara, sash, etc.
4.16. That prizes given by Sponsors to prize winners are not the responsibility of Cape Town Pride and Cape Town Pride cannot be held liable for any sponsor not fulfilling their prizes to winners.
5. PUBLICITY & PROMOTION
5.1. By virtue of participation in the Cape Town Pride Pageant, contestants agree to allow Cape
Town Pride the right to use his/her name, likeness and/or voice for purposes of publicity and
promotion for the next year. Contestants understand that his/her name, likeness and/or voice
may be used on the internet, media partners, in print advertising and press releases. Contestant
agrees to release Cape Town Pride from liability for any injury resulting from publicity and
promotion. Contestant agrees to waive any and all compensation for use of his/her name,
likeness and/or voice for purposes of publicity and promotion.
6. AGREEMENT
6.1. Cape Town Pride Pageant contestants agree to abide by the above rules. If a contestant fail
to abide by the above rules and/or brings Cape Town Pride into disrepute, a decision will be
made at the Cape Town Pride Pageant organiser’s digression. Cape Town Pride has the right to terminate the contestant’s contract immediately and reclaim the contestants sash.
6.2. Participation in the Cape Town Pride Pageant also indicates acceptance and agreement to abide by all rules and regulations set forth by Cape Town Pride. Contestant attests that all information submitted to Cape Town Pride is true and accurate. Falsification of information and failure to comply with the policies of Cape Town Pride may result in immediate disqualification and/or forfeiture of prizes won without benefit of refund in full or in part at the sole discretion of Cape Town Pride.
